Hi; very sweet distro! Using both lxde and the newest release on diff machines.
Loving lots of the little tweaks. I will be donating to this project.
HOWEVER...
The desktop logo is driving me crazy; yesterday I turned it off in Startup and Session but today it's back and won't go away. I've disabled the desktop startup shell scripts and still there. Arghhh!
I can't see anything in compton.conf to comment out and I don't see any reference in the compton shell scripts either.
HELP! I know it's a little thing but I'm fairly savvy (or thought I was) and now quite frustrated.

For a simple, visual walk-through on how to disable the UberStudent logo on the desktop, just go to http://uberstudent.com/wiki/index.php?t ... sktop_Logo It will take most people less than a minute to accomplish.

Does this still apply to version 4.1? I created a login for library patrons to use (standard user), and the first option to Disable works on my administrator login, but not on theirs when I do it logged in as them. After several restarts for other reasons, the logo is still there overlayed over the library-esque backgrounds I added.

I thought about just uninstalling it, but the system says the logo is part of another package, which also will be uninstalled (uberstudent-uberstudent-xcfe).

Is it ok to uninstall or is there an update how to simply disable for all user types?

In your administrator account, run the following in a terminal:

Code:
sudo rm /etc/xdg/autostart/UberStudent-logo.desktop

Or you can uninstall it. uberstudent-desktop-xfce is just a metapackage.

Thanks for the reply. The first option didn't stop the logo from appearing for the standard user account when I tried to run it in my admin account, but after uninstall, it vanished. Would this also affect the UberStudent screensaver? I was trying to change it, but can't find the options. I thought it might be under Look & Feel or Desktop, but I guess even the new versions of Ubuntu removed pre-installed screensavers or the easy method to adjust them.

You can adjust it from System > Settings > Screensaver.

That did it! For some reason, I "saw" the Settings as a section header rather than a submenu link. Found a whole bunch of stuff I was looking for in one fell swoop.
