Every so often when typing, the cursor will click a random area or the text will appear in another field or delete the current text. :/
Also, even when ticking the box to auto hide the top panel, it still appears constantly :(
I'm a total Linux newb so bare with me

First things first: try a new mouse.

Go to Settings > Hardware > Mouse and Touchpad and try adjusting the settings.

I've turned the touch pad off when typing and removed the touch to click feature.
Shame there is no way to have the touch pad off when a mouse is added
Ill message back if things carry on

It seems the issue MAY have been fixed by disabling the touch pad while typing.
The only other issue is the top panel not being able to hide

Right click the panel and go to preferences and tick Show and Hide the Panel. Works without issue on my end.

The first thing I do when I use a laptop is disable the touchpad and plug in a mouse. I HATE touchpads. I'm always hitting them without knowing it and messing up what I am trying to do or type. That sounds exactly like what's going on here!
