I have Ubuntu 14.04 and UberStudent 4.0 installed on my computer.Yesterday, my computer kept hanging in UberStudent. My keyboard also hang. So,I restarted my computer.Suddenly, when I boot to UberStudent,I was shocked to see my login screen changed to Ubuntu 14.04.I try typing my Ubuntu password and it says incorrect password. So I type in my UberStudent password. It was the right password but suddenly they said:'Failed to start session.'I tried UberStudent recovery but it still won't work.

Any ideas?

It sounds like your boot manager has become corrupted due to the manner in which you interrupted shut-down. To fix it, place the UberStudent 4.0 disc in to your computer, boot in to it from "Live" mode (Try UberStudent), and then go to Applications > System > Administration > Boot Repair and run it. The steps will be self-explanatory.

Are you actually saying that your login manager looks like the following default Ubuntu 14.04 login manager?

And that your UberStudent account password, which differs from your Ubuntu account password, works for it? This would truly be exceptionally odd. :!: :?:

The UberStudent session in is one of the things provided by an UberStudent base package, uberstudent-xfce-default-settings-enduser. The only possible cause I can think of for the error you mentioned is that, despite the warnings against doing so that accompanies the packages ("If you remove this package, your UberStudent installation will break"), an Uberstudent's base package within UberStudent was uninstalled. So in that case, yes, the system breaks, as warned. Any system breaks if base files are removed from it. In Linux, you are allowed to remove any-and-all packages, so you have complete control over your system and can learn in an advanced way how everything works together, but that does not mean that doing so is advisable if your goal is an easy, working system. ;)

In any case, to fix the issue, re-install UberStudent in to the same disc space currently allocated for it. At the installer, choose " Do something Else" and install in the disc space currently occupied by the broken UberStudent installation.
