I have twice downloaded and burned the uberstudent-3.0-xfce-amd64.iso When I boot the DVD I get the start screen countdown to boot, then this message:

EDD: ERROR 0100 READING SECTOR 1214835

INVALID OR CORRUPT KERNEL IMAGE

BOOT:

I have an HP 64bit machine running Windows 7. Any suggestion on how to install uberstudent?

Thanks,
Bennie :?:

UPDATE: The 64-bit and 32-bit ISOs have now completely uploaded successfully. I will myself test the downloads within in the next 12 hours before making a full release announcement. You should wait for the release announcement before downloading.

What you describe is the result of trying to install a corrupted, in this case partial, ISO image.

I've been having trouble uploading to Sourceforge for three days. This is the error I've been getting:

Code:
Error: ETAWrite failed: Broken pipe
Couldn't read packet: Connection reset by peer

You tried to install the result.

I'm right now trying the uploads with a different method, as explained at https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/sourceforge/wiki/SCP

Basically, when you see ISOs that are 2.5 GBs in size, you'll know they've (probably) uploaded completely. They may take some time to seed correctly to SoureForge mirrors, however. I wish Sourceforge allowed one to hide untested uploads but it does not. Everything is live. :x Wait for the release announcement, really.

For the avoidance of trouble about any ISO image, no matter what it is or from where you download it, and to save yourself wasted time from burning bad discs and trying to install them, use the associated MD5 file with the same file name to check the downloaded ISO's integrity. You'll see the MD5 files right alongside the ISO files. Checking is simple and quick. Here are directions: http://uberstudent.com/wiki/index.php?title=Verify_an_ISO_File.
