I am considering purchasing a No OS desktop on Ebay.
I have two questions that I very much would appreciate your advice.
1. Am I correct in assuming that this machine would be more than adequate to support UberStudent?
2. And more importantly, do you think I will be able to install from an ISO without too much trouble.
the details of the machine are;
AMD FX-8350 4.0Ghz Eight Core Processor

8GB DDR3 1333 Mhz Ram

1TB SATA Hard Drive

Radeon HD Graphics

5.1 channel Sound Chipset

GigaByte Network Ethernet

Wireless N 150 Wifi

DVD-Rom Drive

All in One Card Reader

6 x USB2.0

400W Power Supply

You can view the machine at:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-x8-Eight-Co ... -OS-/30128

Thank you in anticipation,

It depends on the specific model of the Radeon Graphics driver. AMD only produces proprietary drivers for their graphics cards for models 8000 or above. If it is an older model, the open source drivers contained in Linux by default will work quite well, but not for things like intensive gaming, and intensive video and graphic editing.

Also, who makes and what is the model of the All in One Card Reader?

Other than that, the specs look good.

Myself, I'd be careful in any regards about buying a used machine. You might do better to put together a machine using manufacture-refurbished parts you get from some place like NewEgg. And, keep in mind, the very best investment you can make for a new computer is LOTS OF FANS TO KEEP EVERYTHING VERY COOL (the machine I am using right now, which I made from new parts I bought from NewEgg, has six, and is going on four years old and works as well as the day I put it together). Most computers will otherwise die a premature death from heat exhaustion, including every single standard one you buy from any of the dominant OEMs, for whom you can probably tell I have little love.

UberStudent Must Become Self-Sustaining. If UberStudent and my dedicated support of it has benefited you, it's important to make a donation. Thanks!
