Has anyone installed these? I have a GTX 560 Ti card, but see nothing about the drivers in the repository package listings.

Several visualization apps I use push the video capabilities beyond anything the nouveau driver is capable of, and things freeze up.

I've seen several ways to install them, but most rely on having packages available. Has anyone had to do this?

Thanks,

Kenward

Well, after some very interesting observations about cloning partitions (wherein the two systems became very confused with one another), I managed to find out more about Ubuntu's repository system, including ppa's. This is different from Debian's when it comes to non-free yet recognized as important software.

Found that the nvidia drivers were available through ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates, and these installed with no issues.

Glad to see that working now.

Ciao!

You can also simply go to Applications menu > System > Hardware > Proprietary Driver Manager. It will scan your hardware and then offer to install the proper Nvidia driver.

Since the driver needed was not in the repository lists, would that manager have been able to advise me on it?
