I need your help again  . Anyway, I installed the hplip, which did indeed solve my printer issues, but now I have a new problem. (I don't know if it's a hardware or a software issue, so I put it here.) Few days after the installation, my OS started freezing. I can't open any program, of if it's already open I can't close it, I can't close the starting window after booting, etc. Mouse coursor is functioning (moving), but I can't do any anything with it. Sometimes it "unfreezes" by itself, but somethimes not even after rebooting. I have attached my Hardware report below. I am afraid because everytime I had issues of this kind (and I did have them with Ubuntu several times), the only thing I could do is reinstall the OS - a thing I have not the time (I am in the middle of an important project), nor the nerves for now as I have installed UberStudent quite recently. Please, help.

Thank you!

I don't know what machine you're using but I'm going to venture it's around 5 years old (the CPU is 2005 technology and your BIOS is a 2007 version).

Freezing like you're describing is almost always hardware related, usually either the RAM or CPU. Five years, sometimes sooner (especially without a lot of airflow from extra fans), is when hardware starts reaching its end of life.

You can try this to see if it helps:

1. Go to Applications menu > System > Settings > System > Session and Startup > Application Autostart tab > Desktop Compositing (Default)
2. Unitck Desktop Compositing (Default)
3. Reboot or log out and log back in

That will at least lighten the load on your hardware.

Also, to see if there is a RAM issue, run memtest86+. When you boot in to UberStudent, there will be an option to run it from the boot menu. Let it run overnight. Post what it says here.
