I am new to Linux so i face some problems. I hope someday i will be able to help others as well. My Haier X107H netbook has inbuilt 3G modem . It came with Windows Xp and had a dialer software through which i connected to internet.
I tried to connect in Linux but it did't worked. It is Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM. Country - India. Service provider - Tata Photon +. ( In Ubuntu 13.04 it even showed IMEI no. of the device, so the device is recognised) .
Now i have to switch to windows for using Internet and few softwares only. Once i get access to internet on Linux i will rarely visit windows.

Go to Applications menu > Sysystem > System > Synaptic Package Manager and search for gnome-ppp and install it. It will help you connect.

Your hardware is very oddball and rare (manufactured in China, sold in small numbers and never at all in any Western market). That's why it is not detected and working out-of-the-box in UberStudenrt. The reason your driver works in Windows is because the manufacturer paid Microsoft handsomely to include in Windows a driver for it. Millions of Windows users have to install that oddball driver just to install Windows.

Let's try this:

(1) Open Synaptic Package Manager from Applications > System > System > Synaptic Package Manager
(2) Search for and install gobi-loader
(3) Reboot.
(4) Use gnome-ppp to connect.

Does that solve the issue?

After you have downloaded and installed gobi-loader on your netbook, let us know if that solved the problem.

You should not have to do anything with it. It should just work now. Does it?

Make sure you connect whatever cable you use to make your Internet connection and then connect to it with all the correct credentials using gnome-ppp.

Bottom line: if it connects with Ubuntu, it will connect with UberStudent, because UberStudent contains what Ubuntu contains. If you still cannot connect, please let us know.
