Please do the following:

1. Go to Applications menu > Administration > Users and Groups and run the program.
2. Click "Add," input your password, and create a new user.
3. Highlight the username you just made and then click "Manage Groups."
4. Scroll down to sudo, double-click it, and tick for the new username to be added to the group. Then click out of everything to exit the program.
5. Reboot and log in to the new user account. Run Chrome. Does it work? If it does, then there is something you did that messed up files in your home directory. You should move to the new account.

If still no luck, run in a terminal:
Code:
sudo apt-get purge google-chrome-stable

Then, in a terminal run:
Code:
sudo apt-get install google-chrome-settings

Then, download this slightly older version of Chrome, install it, and then tell me if it works.

By the way, I'm writing this right in Google Chrome in a UberStudent.

Adding a new user did not help. I purged Chrome but every time I ran "sudo apt-get install google-chrome-settings" it would reinstall chrome. I tried to use the older version you suggested but the file was corrupted. I did change the permissions. So I went online and found an older version of Chrome."google-chrome-42-0-2311-90-64-bit-multi-ubu.deb" I purged the other version of Chrome but did not install the chrome-settings.Then I installed the older deb file. It runs now. I'll see if the updates change anything and make note of the one that stops it. Thanks for your help.

After I installed it I ran the update and now it does not work. It's version google-chrome-stable 47.0.2526.106-1. My problem started with google-chrome-stable 46.0.2490.80-1. I think i need the version before 46.0.2490.80-1 and hold off updating.

So then sudo apt-get purge google-chrome-stable in a terminal and then install the earlier version as a workaround. When you do updates, untick the one for Chrome.

This all may be an issue with a video driver you are using. When you run propdrivers from a terminal, what driver does it say you are using?

I'm having certain, different issues with both chrome and chromium using the opensource nouveau driver for my Nvidea card but not while using the proprietary Nvidea driver.

Because I cannot replicate your issue, and because this may be related to your particular hardware and the drivers for it, and because I think we pretty much ruled out every possible issue related to configuration that I could think of, I would strongly encourage you to file a bug report: https://www.chromium.org/for-testers/bu ... nux-builds . The best way to rule in a driver issue is to do that, first. If you do post a bug report, please come back and post the link to it so I can follow it.

Yes, that link is for filing bugs against Chromium. In case you didn't know, at least last I checked, that's the way you file a bug against Chrome. :geek:

I ran propdrivers. I get the message - No proprietary drivers are in use.Chromium works for me. I signed into Chromium and all of my Chrome settings and links are working in Chromium.
