I have installed UberStudent 3.0 on a Dell E6520 laptop. I selected the option to use disk encryption and then entered the password. No problem with the install. From a cold boot the boot process stops at a grey screen. No password prompt, no box to type in, just a blank grey screen. This seems a little out of the ordinary as I have used disk encryption before and always receive a password prompt. However, if I type my encryption password at the grey screen the boot process completes and the operating system loads. What is your take on this? Try to reinstall, or is this normal. Everything else seems to function normally.

Honestly, I never tested the disc encryption and just assumed it work if it worked from upstream. If you've tried it, does the same thing happen with *ubuntu 13.04?

You could choose to view that as an unintentional but useful security feature. A potential intruder is not likely going to know where to even begin once he sees that grey screen.

:!:

Ah! :ugeek:

Since I've not tested disc encryption, this may even be a feature.

I have researched the blank screen process and it appears that this is a bug with Ubuntu starting in 2011. There are a few attempted workarounds but nothing that resolves the issue in entirety. I can live with this bug knowing that entering the password on the blank screen will allow the boot process to complete.
