I tried to get the 32-bit torrent, but upon starting the torrent Transmission fails with the message:
Tracker gave an error: "unregistered torrent pass"

That's a torrent tracker error that I unfortunately have no control over.

I'd, first, suggest you try simply downloading your preferred UberStudent edition directly from Sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/uberst ... /Epicurus/

If that fails due to the only very poor Internet access available to you, pre-made UberStudent discs delivered to your door are super cheap--as cheap as I can possibly make them through the very reliable third-party UberStudent partner, OSDisc. Ah OK. I just mentioned it as data point in case more people are running into problems with the torrent.

I'm getting UberStudent to install on a hand-me-down Thinkpad T41 for my cousin. My main concern at the moment is whether the hardware of the T41 will be up to running the OS.

It should run just fine on a Thinkpad T41.
