Hey Stephen, Just kidding about that subject line. I put that there so copycats wouldn't steal these ideas.
This is actually a post of funding ideas for you.
You could offer universities and schools a "branded" uberstudent, training for helpdesk staff, support etc for a fee.
You might be able to swing a "pro" upgrade, scripts package, uberprof, or something that does not have to be real difficult for you to make. The idea is its a figleaf so educators can go to the boss and say "hey boss let me expense this" which is easier to do when you "have" to pay vs for something that is essentially free.
I heard some open source programs are licensed such that you can stick your name on it and sell it without violating the license. Maybe you could put together a package of a few of these so educators have a easy way to put some money in your hand.
One script idea would be a default shared folder on a professors laptop that the students would automatically connect to. and/or a single click ad-hoc network to support the share.
p.s. If you thought the subject line was funny just think of all the people that are going to see several views and no replies and wonder why no one can answer that question! I'm chuckling so hard I think I might damage my laptops hard drive.

Your script idea could be resolved with Syncthing. It requires two-way authentication but is very simple to use.
