Hi,

I want to start a topic to say thank you for making UberStudent. I'm downloading it right now.
As I'm a student in the last year of the first grade (not sure how your system works, it's the 4th year at university) so your distribution will help to get my work done.
I'll make my comrades have a look at UberStudent :)

Good luck for the work on the 32bit version.

Cellular Biologie :)
I just looked it up on wikipedia. I was talking about the master's degree (I got my bachelor's degree last year).
In France you study 3 years for the bachelor and then 2 years to obtain a master's degree.

/edit So I'm in the first year of master's degree

Okay, when you said "first grade" I heard that as grade 1 in primary school, which in the U.S. system is normally attended by 6-year-olds.

Just wanted to say: "Thanks A Million Stephen!"

Even though I'm not using your distro, mostly because I just recently reinstalled Xubuntu 12.04 and put a lot of configuration time into it. I am working on installing some of the programs included by default in UberStudent. I've already installed most of the ones in the ubuntu repos, now I'm working on the web apps which I just figured out how to reproduce and a few to be compiled from source code.

One suggestion relating to web apps (really a +1 from the distrowatch review) it'd be nice if you could tell the web apps from local programs at a quick glance with out waiting for the tool tip and in some cases guessing.

All in all Great Work keep it up!

I AM using UberStudent, and I have decided to use UberStudent as my main distribution, and the only one on my hard drive at the moment. I have been a 'life-long learner,' as the distro description goes, and I find that this is pretty close to perfect for the way I use my computer. It fits me.

So, thank you.

We seem to be a small, small community here, judging by the number of people who are online at any given time. If we assume that this distribution user base grows as it should, shouldn't we have an introduction thread? Is there one that I haven't found? Should I start one, and, if so, under which category would you prefer it to be, Stephen? Or is this the introduction thread...

An Intro Thread - excellent idea. I'll make one. :)

I plan to make a huge promotion push this coming summer. As soon as I released 2.0, lots and lots of things happened in my life, including the deaths of my only brother and my mother. That and other things put a delay into a planned promotional push.

There is no rush needed. Take the time to organize your private life as this is way more relevant.
Uberstudent will do fine and grow as there are nice people around here and the promotional push can be done when the time has come :)

I will have a look at the introduction thread. :geek:

Thanks for a good distribution. I usually keep two or three distributions going, but use one as a "primary", ready and steady one. Linux Mint was my usual choice for the primary one (and then I play with Arch and Debian and even SUSE and Slackware). But your choice of software is closer to my own tastes: Zotero, gPodder, Deluge, etc. Plus you've incorporated the best parts of Mint (the updater, the new MDM, etc.). So why bother with Mint when I've got UberStudent? (Of course, I changed everything around "look and feel"-wise, but that's the best part about Linux). So thanks. Oh, and I'm doing my Master's thesis this year too: Loosely on Cassirer's work. ;)
